My children have been having lessons at Orchard Farm Equestrian Centre for several years. Jamie is a fantastic instructor. No matter what time of day they have their lesson he is as energetic as if it is his first lesson of the day. Mrs D

Just wanted to thank you for the brilliant horse riding lessons you have given me , Since i have been riding at orchard farm riding holidaysmy confidence around horses has grown. the stables are very well maintained and the indoor school is excellent. Horse riding at the stables is really good as Jamie is always on hand to help or answer any queries you may have, Jamie's  patience and natural ability around horses is excellent,  I have now been horse riding on the beach several times the feeling of galloping along the beach and paddling with your horse in the sea is amazing and an experience i will never forget.  and although the riding lessons are serious  Jamie seems to have the ability to turn horse riding lessons  into fun at the same time improving your riding skills.

With best wishes,

me to walk, trot and canter and he took me to the beach a couple of times for a ‘blast’.  He even taught me to do some small jumps. I was 54 when I first came to Orchard Farm riding holidays, I am now 62 and still loving it. Jackie

I first came to Orchard Farm riding school in February 2004.  I had never ridden before but really loved horses.  I chose well.  When I was told the instructor was a man my heart sank but Jamie proved to be just the best.  He never criticised me or made me feel inadequate, but when I was doing something wrong, which was often, he would make ‘suggestions’ making me feel I’d improved all on my own!! H gave me either Jake (who sadly recently passed away) or Shoshonie to ride.  Probably the best school ponies in the world. After just a few months I felt confident enough to buy my own horse.  Jamie taught me to walk, trot and canter and he took me to the beach a couple of times for a ‘blast’.  He even taught me to do some small jumps. I was 54 when I first came to Orchard Farm riding holidays, I am now 62 and still loving it. Jackie

After not having ridden for 18 months and being new to the area, I asked around what would be a good yard with a knowledgeable instructor for me, a 42 year old mum, to start riding again. Quite a few people mentioned Orchard Farm and Jamie, so I felt confident to give them a try.
When I contacted the yard, I was impressed with the friendly welcome and also with the very reasonable price of £16 for a 45 minute private lesson (I have paid three time that much at riding schools in Hampshire for lessons on a schoolmaster with a senior instructor).
The first lesson was on ex-racehorse Sid, a lovely horse and Jamie quickly found where the boundaries of my riding skills were. He was sympathetic and very supportive, which made me feel elated to be back in the saddle again after such a long time. Ever since then I have had weekly lessons (sometimes even two per week!) and Jamie has already progressed my riding more than ever before in such a short amount of time. Jamie has been very sensitive to my riding 'hang-ups' and fears and has encouraged me to achieve and feel confident. He has let me ride his gorgeous warm blood Lara for a dressage lesson and with his guidance got some nice flying changes out of her. Even though jumping was never my 'thing' Jamie got me onto the fabulous Gypsy and had me flying over cross poles with a big grin on my face, without making me feel uneasy or out of my depth. My favourite horse has been Sid who has proved a real schoolmaster who makes me look a better rider than I really am - with the help of Jamie's excellent instructions. All in all I could not have found a more dedicated instructor, on a more friendly yard with more adorable and well kept horses. Thank you Jamie for getting me back in the saddle and hooked again!
